RAE’S READS

I have so many great cover images to choose from, but this one says it all.

When our Tuesday Readers. Book Club chose this book for our March selection, my first. reaction was, “Oh, good, I don’t have to read the book.” I had read the “trilogy” when it was first published in the 70s. Searching my memory-bank, I couldn’t remember anything about Adams’ book except that it was about a book and that the. whole novel was bizarro.

In my search for an audiobook on Spotify, I came across a twenty-something part, read-aloud podcast dating from the pandemic by the Bearded Wit, which was filled with pauses for “slurps of tea,” cracking-up fits of laughter at the humor of the book, and passing sirens in the background. What a delight! (The reader mentioned he was working on an edited, cleaned-up version of the podcast on his YouTube. channel–but where’s the fun n that?)

I am currently on part twenty-seven and listening to the fifth book, reminiscing about the first three, which I read before. Books four and five are new to me, and only the first book was required by our book club. I expect to finish my “ride” today, then look into renting the movie later tonight.

Consider this post my “Sunday Update” on what I’m currently reading, dear friends.

People at book club were in two completely different groups about this book: loved it or hated it. It surprised me so much that some people did not enjoy this book.
